BREAKING: Troops Eliminate Suspected Terrorist as Military Jets Strike Zamfara Hideout

Security forces have intensified their offensive against armed groups in Zamfara State, recording a ground-operation victory in Shinkafi and conducting airstrikes against suspected terrorist positions in Tsafe.
Nigerian troops have killed a suspected terrorist during a patrol operation in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, as military forces continue efforts to weaken armed groups operating across the state.
The operation was carried out around the Galadi axis, where troops reportedly encountered individuals travelling on motorcycles. The encounter led to an exchange of fire, with one suspected terrorist killed while others escaped.
Items recovered from the deceased reportedly included four mobile phones and ₦30,350 in cash. Investigators also found photographs on one of the phones showing the suspect in camouflage and allegedly carrying a PKM machine gun.
Air operation hits terrorist position
Away from the Shinkafi operation, military aircraft also targeted suspected terrorist positions around Yankuzo in Tsafe Local Government Area.
The strikes reportedly took place on September 7 as part of efforts to disrupt armed groups operating in the area.
One of the individuals reportedly killed in the operation was identified as Isiya Gurgu, who was said to have links to the network associated with suspected bandit leader Musa Commander.
Reports indicate that several other fighters may have been killed or injured during the strikes, although the precise casualty figure has not been independently established.
The military operations come as security forces maintain pressure on armed groups across Zamfara, where communities have continued to face threats from bandit and terrorist networks.
Ground troops and military aircraft have increasingly been used together in operations aimed at locating, disrupting and dismantling the groups’ operational bases.
Further details on the outcome of the air operation are expected as military authorities provide additional information.
VIBNEXA Media will continue to follow developments in Zamfara and update this report when verified information becomes available.
