BREAKING: Oluremi Tinubu Set to Visit Anambra, 5,000 to Benefit From Empowerment Programme
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is expected in Anambra State today as the state prepares to host a series of programmes focused on economic support, food security and community development.
The visit, scheduled for Thursday, September 10, will mark Mrs Tinubu’s first official visit to Anambra State since becoming First Lady of Nigeria.
A major part of the visit will be an empowerment programme targeting 5,000 beneficiaries across the state’s 21 local government areas.
The beneficiaries are expected to receive support including business grants, vocational tools and equipment for areas such as agriculture, agro-processing, beauty care and small-scale businesses.
The initiative is being driven by Anambra First Lady, Mrs Nonye Soludo, with the programme expected to receive the backing of the Federal Government through the Renewed Hope Initiative.
South-East food bank programme to be launched
Another major activity on the First Lady’s itinerary is the launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East geopolitical zone.
The initiative is designed to provide support to vulnerable households through food assistance, nutrition-related interventions and other forms of community support.
The Anambra State Government says the programme will include interventions for widows, elderly people, persons living with disabilities and vulnerable families.
Federal Polytechnic Oko visit
Mrs Tinubu is also scheduled to visit the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, where she is expected to commission selected projects.
The activities will make Anambra the centre of several Federal Government and state-backed interventions during the First Lady’s visit.
The state government has described the visit as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Anambra and the Federal Government, particularly around economic empowerment and support for vulnerable residents.
For thousands of residents who are expected to benefit from the empowerment programme, the visit could provide direct access to financial and material support aimed at improving livelihoods.
