During an operation along the Targejeri axis of Kaga LGA in the early hours of Sunday, troops working alongside supporting forces reportedly ambushed suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province and Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad.

The operation reportedly resulted in the deaths of six suspected terrorists. Security personnel also recovered an AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 169 rounds of ammunition and several mobile phones.

Eleven Suspected Collaborators Arrested

In a related development, troops reportedly arrested additional suspects during a follow-up operation in Benisheikh, also in Kaga LGA.

The arrests form part of ongoing efforts to investigate suspected support networks linked to armed groups operating in the region.

The military said the operations were aimed at weakening insurgent networks and improving security across the affected communities.

Security Situation in the North-East

Borno State remains a major focus of Nigeria’s counter-insurgency operations, with security forces continuing to target armed groups and their suspected support networks.

The latest developments highlight the continuing security challenges facing communities in the region.

The identities and alleged roles of the arrested individuals will need to be established through the appropriate investigative and legal processes.
